Q: Christmas in July! Someone gives you a gift card for two books (whatever that costs). What two books will you buy?

Well, I have so many books on my lists it would be so very hard to choose, but for now, I'll say The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead - I'm jonesing for some Adrian, badly! And next, I've been dying to read The Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin. I'm a huge Edgar Allen Poe fan, and I keep picking the book up, and setting it back down. Eventually, I'm just going to have to give in and buy the dang thing. LOL.

Best Book...

I've read several of Ms. Kenyon's books but hadn't read Acheron yet. Loved it. Wow!

Worst Book...I don't read "bad" books. I read "didn't quite fit my taste" books. But in the last month...I've enjoyed everything I've read. Sorry...no worst book here.

Question: What's the craziest thing you've ever done to get your hands on any particular book?

Oh man...outside of showing up to the midnight release of Breaking Dawn or begging a publisher for a copy of an ARC (I didn't really beg, I just asked very nicely), I can't really think of anything. I mean I've entered contests and showed up to stores on release day and even had a friend send me a book I simply said I wanted to read, but those are boring every day type things.

I'm certain some of you around the blogosphere have done way more crazier things. I can't wait to get some ideas. LOL.

Question of the Week: When you've read a book, what do you do with it? (Keep it, give it away, donate it, sell it, swap it..?)

Oh my. Well, I'm going to show off my selfishness here. I keep every book I read. I just can't bear to let them go. I am a book addict and I readily admit it. I fall in love with something in every book I read...even if I end up disliking the book in the end. There have been times when I have ended up with duplicate books because I don't remember buying them or I win them in giveaways. Those books I usually put in my own giveaways or give to someone who wants them.

I do keep a spreadsheet of all the books I own and if someone wants to borrow a book, they have to sign it out. I'm kind of like a library without due dates; however, I am very particular about who I let borrow my books. And...I will come knocking if I don't get them back. LOL. So I'm not all greedy...I just love my books.

Q: What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don’t like love triangles or thin plots? Tell us about it!

My biggest pet peeve? Hmmm. The one thing I cannot stand is when the characters are completely unbelievable. I don't need a huge back-story but I do need enough to believe they are what the author claims them to be. Pulling magic tricks from the air without any reference to witches or anything magical...not buying it. Normal person turns into a were____ and there is never a mention of why, how, or any other mystical being...nope.

I very seldom read a book I dislike enough to go on a rampage, but when I do...it's always because the characters or the settings aren't fleshed out. I love being swept away into another world...take me there. That's truly all I need.

Q: It’s Thanksgiving Day(Weekend) in the U.S. so we want to know what you are Thankful for – blogging related of course! Who has helped you out along the way? What books are you thankful for reading?

First, Happy Thanksgiving to everybody. Even if you don't live in the United States you can still tell us what you are thankful for. Right?

I have so much to show my appreciation for. I have two beautiful daughters who make my life what it is today. As a teenager I never wanted children. I just never imagined that they would complete my life in the way they have. There has never been a day that goes by that I don't thank God for blessing me with them. Of course, there are those days that I am begging God for the patience to deal with them...I'm certain they pray for the patience to deal with me too. I am also very grateful for my wonderful parents who are still there for me every single day. My husband and I will be celebrating our 17th anniversary tomorrow. If not for his love and support, I would not have been able to be the mother I am today.

Okay...on to the blogging things I am thankful for. I have been blogging for about six months and have been so very lucky to make some wonderful friends. April from Books4Juliet, Angela from Reading Angel, Pixie from The Bookaholic, and Kristin from KristinCanRead are just a few of these blogging people.

I often review independently published books and have had the honor of working with some of the nicest, kindest authors around.

Question: If you could have dinner with your favorite book character, who would you eat with and what would you serve?

Hmmm...good question. I think I would like to have dinner with Jericho Barrons from The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning. The problem would be...I wouldn't know what to serve, outside of Unseelie Fae. I really don't want to eat it myself, and honestly, I'm not sure what he eats. I just have a longing to meet this man and see what he is about.

I don't really do super-hero's but I suppose if I had to pick one it would be... Dazzler from the X-Men. I  know...I am attempting to be original, but I have always loved the X-Men and who doesn't want to be a rock star? Right?   Dazzler can produce numerous effects. She can create simple patterns out of rays of light or combinations of patterns which produce trance-like effects in her targets. She can create a pulse of light on the order of several thousand watts of power, which temporarily blinds people with its brilliance. She can create a chaotic cascade of sparkling lights and colors that severely upsets other people's equilibrium, or a pulsating strobe-light effect. Dazzler can generate a coherent beam of light, approximating a laser beam. Super cool, right?

Q.If you could have characters from a particular book meet and form an epic storyline with characters from a particular TV series, which would you choose and why? 

 

 OMG! This is nearly an impossible question. My preferences between television and books are completely opposite. I don't watch a lot of "paranormal" television...The Vampire Diaries is the exception. I don't read a lot of mystery, or haven't in a while. 

 

Hmmm...okay, this has been my theme of the month but I would like to see MacKayla Lane and Jericho Barrons from Karen Marie Moning's Fever Series meet NCIS Los Angeles. Mac and Barrons can find anything and Barrons is far scarier than anything I have ever seen on TV. Pair him with Chris O'Donnell and LL Cool J and I think LA might shape up.

Q. If you could pick one character in a book, movie or television show to swap places with, who would it be?

 My Answer:

Honestly, this is a really tough question. I have read so many books and seen so many movies that I don't think I can narrow it down. I read to escape my life for a while so in all (non) reality I am essentially trading places every time I dive into a book. Right now I am reading the The MacKayla Lane Novels by Karen Marie Moning. I love that Mac is kickass, snarky, and trusts no one. She has enough sense to lookout for herself and "not place all her eggs in one basket."

However, Mac is in a little bit of trouble right now and I'm not sure I would want to be her at this very moment!

What book that hasn't been turned into a movie (yet) would you most like to see make it to the big screen, and who would you like cast as your favorite character? Since my obsession this week is Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick...I'm going to say the Hush Hush Series! How many of us wouldn't want Patch to be brought to life. And my choice to play Patch...Steven R. McQueen

Tell us a bit about it and why you keep on revisiting it? I do have a couple of series that I go to at different times. If I am feeling down...I tend to reread the Twilight Saga. I initially read them when I was going through a difficult time and they made me feel a little better...so that is why I still read them when I'm down.  I have just finished the Sweet Series by Maya Banks (NOT YA) and I can already tell you that it is a series I will reread over and over again. I fell in love with the characters and would love to have everyone of them as my friends. . If you could change the ending of any book (or series), which book would you choose? Why and to what?  This is going to be a spoiler fest so try to write the title of the book as a dominant feature - and warn people about spoilers.  Oh, this is going to be a tough one. The one I'm really thinking of right now is an ARC, so I won't do it, way to many spoilers.  I felt like Breaking Dawn allowed a lot of people an easy way out, but I was satisfied in the end. Warning: Mockingjay Spoiler  Ho hum, what shall it be? Well, I think I am going with the Hunger Games and Mockingjay. I was horrified that Primrose died even after all Katniss did to save her. And, the whole Peeta versus Gale thing, well, I was always Teem Peeta but I feel like Katniss chose him because she was forced too. He was the only one around. Gale left to save the world and all that hero crap; so, what was she supposed to do. I am thankful that both Peeta and Katniss survived, because if not, I would have a whole lot more whining and griping to do. I truly thought they were going to just pull the carpet out from underneath them in the end. UGH!

Q. In books like the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series the paranormal creature in question "comes out of the closet" and makes itself known to the world. Which mythical creature do you wish would come out of the closet, for real?

 

Ah, well my answer would have to be the Revenants for Die for Me by Amy Plum. They are sexy and help people who truly need supernatural help. They fight against evil. And…did I mention they are SEXY!

Plus, they are not a popular paranormal creature, so it would be most excellent if they really did exist.

“Non-book-related this week!! Do you have pets?”

Yes I do. We finally found a little shitzu to fit in with our laid back family. Ella is the cutest dogly ever!

Follow Friday and Blog Hop

Q. If you could write yourself a part in a book, what book would it be and what role would you play in that book?

Oh, I like this question. 

I tend to be really unsure of myself and feel completely weird it company that I do not know. I have always wanted to be one of those girls who was confident, strong, and a leader...like Calla Tor in Nightshade, by Andrea Cremer. I would love to be Calla and have the problems (ie...Ren vs Shay) that she has. LOL!

Calla is so strong and does what she believes is right. She is respected by her pack to the point that they would do anything for her. She never whines...she just acts. Oh, to be Calla!

“What’s the LONGEST book you’ve ever read?”
(Note: I’m putting one caveat on this question. You aren’t allowed to say the Bible, Torah, Qur’an, or other religious/spiritual text.) Gosh, this is a hard question...I would have to say The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larson, or one of its sequels. Most of the books I read are about the same length, but those books seemed to take forever to read, even though I loved them.

Follow Friday #3 and Book Blogger Hop #1

Q. Talk about the book that most changed or influenced your life (was it a book that turned you from an average to avid reader, did it help you deal with a particularly difficult situation, does it bring you comfort every time you read it?). 

I love this question. When I was in high school, I read a lot of John Grisham. I loved his mysteries; however, as time went by and I was no longer living with mom and dad, and started paying my own bills, going to college...well, you get it, the things adults do...I didn't have time to read anymore. Then I had kids...and well, most of you know how that goes. 

I have seen this answer on a couple of other blogs, but I am answering the question honestly so...while at work, some ladies were talking about Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. At first I thought - no, vampires have never really been my thing. But the more I heard about the books, the more I thought...ok, I am going to read the first book at least. And then, I couldn't put them down. I was thankful that I was late into the series, so I didn't have to wait for the next one to come out. I read them in a week. Couldn't put them down. And then my oldest daughter read them and it gave us something fun to talk about. She would get so mad at me because I refused to tell her anything about the books...I just kept saying "Just read it." And as Amber at Me,My Shelf, and I said I don't want to hear that the books were poorly written or that there's no such thing as sparkly vampires because unless you have irrefutable evidence to the contrary...all vampires are fictional. 

And I haven't stopped reading since.

Even now, when I am depressed, upset or sad, I will reread The Twilight Saga because they bring me comfort and take me to a place other than the - all to many times - crazy place I live.

 So...how about you?

I have been looking for a way to get my blog noticed! I am very thankful that I found the Follow Friday Fun! I am looking forward to hopping to lots and lots of fantastical blogs! I hope you enjoy what you see at mine. If you are just hopping and joining, come back for a visit soon. I am just starting up and wow! this takes a lot of time. Feel free to leave comments, suggestions, and anything you think would make my blog more interesting!

Question: Name 3 authors that you would love to sit down and spend an hour or a meal with just talking about either their books or get advice on writing from?

Andrea Cremer would be my first choice. She has a way of pulling you into her story and really making you feel what they feel. I am completely amazed when I finish one of her books. Wolfsbane is out Tuesday!!! I can't wait.

Josephine Angelini is one of my new favorite authors. Greek Mythology was never my thing, but when I read Starcrossed, I loved the modern twist she spun on it! LOVED IT!

And who could forget Maggie Stiefvater! I am truly saddened that The Wolves of Mercy Falls is over. She made me fall in love with the characters and the wolves. Another author who does an awesome job of making you feel the story!
