I think Jennifer is taking lessons from Cassandra Clare on how to leave an audience hanging...I mean seriously! WTH? You have got to be kidding me! OMG! Can Spring 2013 please, please, please hurry. It's very important for my mental health. And I'm obscenely worried about the girls at Starbooks, the best book club, and friends, a girl can ever have. Poor Mariam is going stark-raving mad. I swear I heard my copy of Deity hit her bedroom wall when she finished reading it and we live several states apart. I'm waiting to hear Kim's head explode and then...I'm not sure who's next. And, Kelly...well, you'll just have to wait.

Don't even get me started on the Aiden vs. Seth debate...

Where I've Been and #DaemonInvasion

Sorry if it seems like I've been hiding or lost lately. This is mostly because...well, I was hiding. Quite honestly, I'm freaking exhausted from the #DivergentNation promotion and needed a little time off from my blogging duties, but never fear, I'm back with a vengeance. We've got another, although less stressful, promotion heading our way.

Yes, Better Read Than Dead is heading up a #DaemonInvasion Street Team. We are calling ourselves #DaemonsDreamers and we couldn't be happier to be helping Jennifer L. Armentrout re-enter the smoking hot Daemon Black to the world! Obsidian will re-release on May 15, 2012 and Obsidian will release in August. {#DaemonInvasion} Official Street Team for The Lux Series by Jennifer Armentrout

Over the last couple of weeks, you’ve heard us talking about the upcoming #daemoninvasion and we’re so excited to finally share with you what is going on.

Really excited.

The beautiful and uber cool models, Pepe Toth and Sztella Tziotziosz, who grace the Lux covers, will be joining us in the United States! You heard right. They are flying here, from Hungary to spend a few days as Daemon and Katy! While they are here, they will be working with Vania, from VLC Productions (the team behind Cassandra Clare’s The Mortal Instruments, Melissa de La Cruz, Kimberly Derting, Moira Young, Kami Garcia and Margret Stohl, Hillary Duff, Lauren Destefano, and many, many more authors’ book trailers), to film book trailers for the Lux Series.

During the filming in Atlanta, they will be accompanying us on tour! What does that mean? You get to meet them. In the flesh. They will be participating in the signings and events. At those signings, we’ll be giving away signed posters, photos, and other swag. There will also be meet and greet events you can join in on. 

At each signing, there will be advanced copies of Onyx given away!

And to top things off (as if this isn’t enough, but we don’t do anything small), there’s something very, very exciting in the works! It involves advanced copies of Opal, water, and a little destination known as the Bahamas. 

I am not kidding. 

This will be epic.

I absolutely could not get my hands on this book soon enough. Like many people, I had already read Obsidian and loved it. I did have some idea as to what was coming in Shadows but I was still enthralled. I was jonesing for more Daemon and even though Shadows is Dawson's and Bethany's story, Daemon still got plenty of screen time - so to speak. Maybe enough to hold me over until Onyx...but I just don't know. Actually, I lie...I reread Obsidian, again. LOL.

Dawson thought the world stopped spinning when he first saw Bethany walk through the door of his English class. She was new and beautiful...but human. Off limits. Dangerous. Intriguing. Worth the risk? Totally. She won his heart within minutes. Truly love at first sight and, in Shadows, it completely works.

Unfortunately for Dawson, at least sometimes, he is a triplet. His slightly older brother, Daemon, is sort of a pain in the....well you know. And if you've read Obsidian...you really know. Daemon is against his brother's infatuation with Bethany...he doesn't see any way for their relationship to end well. Also, relationships with humans just don't make sense...but Dawson doesn't care about that. He just knows Bethany is the girl for him and he's not going to play by the stupid Luxen rules.

Dawson and Daemon may share looks but their personalities couldn't be different. Daemon feels protective over his brother and sister. He knows the Arum lurk in the shadows and want his powers. Bringing humans into the mix adds to the danger as Dawson will soon find out, proving Daemon right. Dawson is caring, funny, charismatic, and kind. He's his sister's best friend. He's...well, not Daemon.

And their sister...Dee, well she has some of the funniest lines in the entire book. I really do feel sorry for her if she ever falls for a human. Daemon is feisty crazy now, just try to imagine if 'lil sis' falls for a human. OMG...the thought scares the bejesus out of me. All of Petersburg, WV will be glowing.

Like everyone else, I want to speculate on what is actually going on with Dawson and Bethany but will refrain so not to spoil anything for anyone that hasn't read Shadows or Obsidian...but I definitely have a theory. We'll all just have to wait and see what happens together.

Okay...I've seen both praises and "just didn't likes" about the writing style of Shadows. Personally, I loved Jennifer's third-person writing style that lets you see into Daemon, Dawson, and Bethany. Obsidian is written in first person from Katy's POV and as funny and interesting that is, I love reading some of the scenes from Daemon's POV. I think seeing multiple POV's is so much fun and gives you a broader understanding of the events that shape and mold the book.

So now, I'll have to wait until August for Onyx...I just can't wait. If you haven't read Shadows or Obsidian...READ THEM NOW.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don’t kill him first, that is.

I read more this weekend than I have in my entire life. Okay, so maybe that is an exaggeration but there were just so many great books that released this week, I couldn't wait. Honestly, I became disillusioned by several of the books I read, though I loved them all. Picking up Obsidian was a breath of fresh air. A story completely unique to all that is Paranormal YA...aliens. Oh, and not just any aliens...super sexy aliens with attitude. Did you see the guy on the cover...I have a few things he could cover...oops, did I say that? Gosh *blushing*.

Katy and her mom are starting over in a new town in a new state after the death of Katy's father leaves them both broken and hurting. Katy is a book review blogger who spends a lot of time reading and writing...about boys with a killer touch. Anyone you know read that book. I have. Sensational. Anyway...back to Katy. Her mom pushes her to get out and meet the "hottie" neighbor boy next door. I give Katy much earned credit because she marches right up to the door and knocks...I would have never had that kind of nerve. Ever. Of course, Daemon being the kind and loving neighbor he is, welcomes Katy into his and his sister's life with open arms...NOT. This guy has some freaking nerve and apparently a chest to to match. He is snide, rude, hateful, demeaning, belittling, sarcastic, and fiercely charming. Protecting his sister is his only concern. His sister's concern...making "normal" friends and she wants Katy as that "normal" friend.

Katy is not a girl to be jacked with. She is filled with fire - matching Daemon's animosity act for awe-inspiring act. Seriously...I want to be her when I grow up. LOL. Knowing what she wants is easy, getting what she wants...the way she wants is a completely different story. Katy is truly a force not to be reckoned with.

Dee is completely amazing and knows how to handle her brother...it seems blackmail is just the motivation he needs to play nice, or maybe pretend to play nice is more accurate. One thing leads to another and he finds himself protecting Katy from lions and bears and tigers...oh my. Okay...so maybe just bears and trucks, oh, and those pesky Arum who are out to steel his powers. Tragedy lands Katy right smack in the middle of danger and Daemon just isn't going to have it.

The chemistry between Katy and Daemon is palpable even through the pages. They hate each other with a passion that can only be caused by intense attraction. I swore the pages were catching on fire during those rare times they connected on a completely physical level.

A couple of completely awesome quotes:

"Is that so?" He blinked. "You look like you're twelve. No. Maybe thirteen, but my sister has this doll that kinda reminds me of you. All big-eyed and vacant." - Page 7

Hands clenching the edges of the plastic tray, I leaned over the table and turned my plate upside down over Daemon's and Ash's heads. Chunks of noodles and spaghetti sauce fell. Most of the red gunk hit Ash and the noodles covered Daemon's broad shoulder. One long, stringy noodle slid over Daemon's ear and hung there, flopping around. - Page 105

"I'm not even attracted to you." Lie. Ding! Ding! Lie. "Not even a little bit. You're-"..."Arrogant. Controlling." I took another step back, but he was still in my personal space and then some. "And you're a jerk." - Page 233

Ah...I almost forgot...the first chapter from Daemon's point of view. Wow. Who would have ever guessed?

I also read Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout and will be reviewing it later this week. Ms. Armentrout is a master at her craft. Creating worlds of intrigue, danger, and humor. Her knack for creating unique and intriguing storylines is a great credit to the reading and writing world. Obsidian had me laughing, cringing on the edge of my seat, and falling deeply in love with this world. This book was exactly what I needed to restore faith in the world of all that is YA this weekend.
