Welcome to Better Read Than Dead. My name is Kristin and I am the keeper of the gates. I was a nurse for several years before making a very wise choice to stay home and take care of my two daughters. I am blessed that I am able to do this. However, with any choice there are both good and bad consequences. The bad of this choice is...I was bored to tears. So, I started reading books and then I started reading blogs. What's the next step you ask? Why, I started blogging, of course.
I love to read anything I can get my hands on and probably spend entirely too much time doing it, but what can I say. My love for reading has inspired me to begin writing again. Who knew it was so much work? LOL.
What is the best thing about blogging? I have been introduced to many books I would have never read and would have missed out on some really great experiences. Through blogging I have also met some wonderful people. Both bloggers and authors.
In the age of electronics, we have such great opportunities that were never around before. Self-publishing, reading a book at the click of a button, social networking...all of these things are beneficial to authors and their readers. Publicity options are numerous, but also, time consuming.
By reviewing books, others can get a feel for a book before they spend their time and money on it. The one thing I caution all readers about is this...Do not let other opinions influence your opinions. If you suspect you may like a book but read a bad review, remember that everyone has different tastes. I have found that the books I put off reading because I thought I wouldn't like them are the books I like the most.
So live, love, and read. Don't ever stop reading, because, reading is learning. The more you learn, the more you understand about the world around you. The more you understand about the world around you, the more you will accept what is and be at peace.
Hi Guys! So my name is Kelly McGeer and Kristin has decided to bring me on as co-owner basically of this blog. Since she is so busy with her kids and stuff she asked me to help out and of course I didn't hesitate.
I love reading books. It's my escape and to tell everybody who will listen about what I am reading and what better way to do it than on a blog dedicated solely to books?!
I've known Kristin for 2 years now and even though it's only a short time I consider her one of my best friends. We all met on a book club called Starbooks and we are basically this little book family.
I just graduated from university and I have a BA degree in Psychology and Criminology. But I am gonna finish my English as well because I would like to go into the book publishing business. I am from South Africa and I live in a place called Pretoria, which is so hot it feels like you are lying down in the arms of Satan.
I like all types of genres, Paranormal, Dystopian, New Adult, and only some Contemporary.
