{Review and Blog Tour} Until Next Time by Amy Lignor

Title: Until Next Time
Series: The Angel Chronicles #1
Author: Amy Lignor

Synopsis:

How does a girl choose between the one who steals her heart and the one who owns her soul?

Matt and Emily were created for a specific job. Raised and trained as the ultimate angel/warrior team, they are sent down to save, defend, judge and forgive, depending on the 'life' they've been assigned. What they don't realize is that the power of human emotions, such as love, anger, passion and fear can take over even the best of souls, causing them to make mistakes and follow paths that lead to confusion and heartache.

When the reason for their training is finally revealed, the angel/warrior team find themselves thrust into a world they know nothing about. Matt takes over the life of Daniel, a young man with a great deal of baggage. Emily becomes Liz, a girl living in a remote village who relies on nothing more than her own strength to survive. A violent storm erupts one night, and framed in the window of Liz's establishment is a frightening face. Let in by the soul of a Good Samaritan, the two visitors bring with them a past full of secrets that could literally change an angel's path and a warrior's plans.

From murder to redemption, this angel/warrior team must find a way to keep the faith they have in each other in a world that's ripping them apart.

Until Next Time is a timeless story about faith, destiny, and true love. Although there were some rough spots, overall, I truly enjoyed this novel. The story was unique and intriguing. The characters were charming and likable. The world building...dynamic. Miss Lignor put her own unique and enjoyable spin on angel lore.

Emily and Matt are angels who are trained to inhabit the Earth as souls of humans. They are each one half of a whole and ultimately belong to each other. When they are sent to Earth, their memories are erased assuring that the information they gather is unbiased. This also means that they don't remember one another yet they must work together to accomplish their missions.

From the beginning, Matt knows he loves Emily and never questions his commitment. In my opinion, it seemed like Emily liked Matt as a friend and needed him in order to be secure. His role in her life appeared to be codependent instead of  a true meaningful love.

The story moved a little slow at first but when Liz (Emily) met Jason and secrets began to be revealed, everything moved at a better pace. Faith made me smile with her brazen attitude and witty banter. Charles was every bit Faith's perfect match. Charles' and Jason's backstory captivated me and is what eventually pulled me into the book. So many secrets...

I enjoyed all the characters but found it difficult to attach to any of them. I believe part of the reason for this was due to the writing style. Emily's and Matt's stories were told from two separate points-of-view. Emily and Matt were the Heaven version and Liz and Daniel belonged on Earth. Throughout the novel, they were pulled back and forth between the two planes. About the time I was getting into one storyline, everything would change.

While I can't put Until Next Time on my favorites list, I do highly recommend it for lovers of all things angelic.

*I was given a free ebook of Until Next Time in return for my honest review and participation in the blog tour. No money changed hands.

  3. Oh my, what a cover! I love it! I've recently developed an interest in angelic things (I blame my most recent re-read of Paradise Lost... There's something about finally reading the original version!) so I'll have to think about adding this one to the list... Thanks for the review! :)

  7. What you’ve done becomes the judge of what you’re going to do, especially in other people’s minds. When you’re traveling, you are what you are right there and then. People don’t have your past to hold against you. No yesterdays on the road.
