{FYI} Go Vote for Your Favorite Novels - NPR

Hey guys! Go vote for your favorite novels at the NPR site. They have a great collection of books, many deserve more than my single vote...so I'm hoping you'll run over and vote for the novels that moved you to tears or laughter or made you think long and hard, or possibly appeared in your dreams.

Maybe while you are there, you'll find a few books you need to pick up and read. This list is full of greatness.

WARNING: You are only allowed to choose 10 books, so look at the entire list before you choose. Here's the link to a MASTER LIST arranged alphabetically. I warn you, 10 votes was not enough for me. And...I also thought a few books were missing from the list but oh well. Go HERE to vote.

When you get done voting, come back and tell me what books you voted for or what books you felt should have been added for your chance to win a book of your choice. Open internationally as long as the Book Depository ships to you.

  1. I voted for The Delirium series, Divergent series, The Hunger Games series, The Maze Runner series, The Mortal Instruments series, My Sister's Keeper, The Shiver series, Twilight series, Uglies series, and Vampire Academy series. It was so difficult to only pick 10! I'm sure there are some good ones missing but I can't think of any.

  3. I know this might make a weird one, but I didn't use my 10 votes! I put in perhaps five or six votes... And I can't remember them off the top of my head, even though I've just clicked the buttons!

Anyway, for me the best book series in the list was the Lumatere Chronicles, by Melina Marchetta. It's not your average story, and in fact I was really surprised to see it featured at all, but it *is* the kind of story that will resist the tarnish of time and generations, the kind of story that will touch and change our kids just like it changed us and that will not leave us unaffected, even if we re-read it the next year, five years later, sixty years from now.

Sure, there were a lot of other ground great stories that changed whole genres (like Harry Potter) but I don't think any other changes people in quite the same way.

There, you can send me the lynch mob now ;) Thanks for the awesome giveaway, Kristin!

  4. I voted for Harry Potter series, the Lux series, Anne of Green Gable's, Twilight, Under the Never Sky, the Iron Fey series, Gallagher Girls series, Goose Girl, Hunger Games, and the Mortal Instruments. They had so many great choices there were defiantly a few more I wanted to vote for but since we only had 10 these were the best ones in my opinion.

  12. It's hard to choose, but I voted for my all time fave, and those that left footprints in my heart (you know, those books that became extra special to me): Twilight (biggest influence), The Mortal Instruments, The Hunger Games, DIVERGENT (my most favorite), Blood Red Road, The Shiver Trilogy (Wolves of Mercy Falls), Delirium. And of course, some of my favorite contemporary books: Anna and the French Kiss, Lola and the Boy Next Door, and Along for the Ride :) That's it. Though there are some series and books that I wish have been there too. It's hard to choose which is which. I'm sure those books are listed there for good reasons. :) Thanks for the giveaway Kristin! xo.
